Larger than Life

The great thing about being away from home is that every memory does not have to be permanent.  The hand being bitten by the mouth that fed it, is more surreal than the idiom ever intended.  The super sized images scattered around Bangkok are monuments to larger than life expectations.

There on the grill fresh fish are cooking, a lunch for two or three or twenty! Each piece rolled into a grilled perfection and proudly displayed by grill master, Nok.

The spectacular water fountain serves as a great source of cool air at the end of overheated days.  But that is not the whole story! The fountains are serving as white noise for the overhead light-rail. An integrated display of urban architecture and environmental consideration.  Not perfect, but helpful!

The pink shopping carts create the building blocks for a new high tech display. The mannequins parade on a floor of bar-codes.  This is super retail.  Each exhibit waving the best of a world of fashion design.

Across the street and heat a store reminds me of my friend.  This could be reincarnation.  Everything is black and white with a dash of grey thrown in for pattern.  This reminder,, like every image in Thailand, reminds me that in a country that lives larger than life, I need to surrender memory to the moment and enjoy the journey.  This was a journey of restoration, rest and resurrection.
