To the Victors the Spoil

Returning to Rome is a bit like walking on familiar ways.  The city of super-sized monuments and bolts of history invites generations to meander the stone walkways between the fountains or along the Tiber. In an exhibit at the Barberini we were stretched by some more Carvagio paintings and some sometimes attributed paintings.  The wanton image with museum labels below invites interpretation and hope.

The other paintings are scattered in three cathedrals between the tourist enchanting fountains.  We paused to admire and acknowledge this reformational perspective in art.

The spoils of victory are everywhere in Rome.  History was gracious to leave them for us.  Savouring history may warrant repeated visits to the avenue of heroes.  Being spoiled by the traces of glory stories.
