I woke up this morning in Moscow thinking about the quiet waters of Nita Lake in Whistler, BC. The canoe reflecting sunshine. The drizzle outside was familiar. The splatter of rain drops blurring vistas. Then my mind wandered to all the evidence of Recovery in my life. Evidence that living and enjoying life is possible. The size of the JimmyK fellowship, the gliding canoes, the paddle breaking a pattern of concentric circles across the reflecting waters all compound to the evidence. My son and Gail paddling across the lake. Not sure who is pushing who around!
The smiles and power paddling of our daughters says everything about restoration. We pause on the glass surface of Nita Lake to reflect on goodness. Between the paddles and movement is a journey of consistently doing the right thing. Paddling like recovery becomes a way of life. A journey.
The evidence posited by three children might be enough, however the delight captured in our travelling smiles help underscore the miracle.
On the streets of Moscow we encountered several carousels. The childhood memories of delight coupled with the present journey in recovery bears witness that recovery works. Treatment is possible and the restoration of the relationships between persons and the renewal of a relationship with a higher power is evidence that recovery works. Watch thousands celebrate this weekend, millions this month!!
